Acrylic paints are sorted for hazardous waste collection unless it can be ensured that the paints do not contain harmful substances. If the product does not contain harmful substances, it can be sorted into mixed waste. Information about the harmfulness of acrylic paints can be found in the safety data sheet of the product.
- The cleaning of painting tools can be done in the same way as cleaning water-borne paint. If the brushes used are small and the paint does not come off the brush, the paint should be thoroughly wiped off the brush and the brush should be rinsed with water. See cleaning a paintbrush
Oil paints are sorted into hazardous waste collection.
- The cleaning of painting tools is carried out in the same way as cleaning solvent-borne paint. Take also painting tool cleaning liquids (detergent, solvent) to hazardous waste collection. See cleaning a paintbrush
Finger paints and watercolours can be sorted into mixed waste. Brush rinsing water containing finger paint or watercolour paints can be poured down the drain
