Garden waste and brushwood
Garden waste includes raking waste, brushwood, stumps, apples and other garden fruit, invasive plant species, and Christmas trees.
Where to take garden waste?
You can also order the collection of garden waste in connection with the emptying of the biowaste container:
- Pack the garden waste in a decomposable sack and write ‘puutarhajätettä’ (garden waste) on top.
- Please indicate the number of sacks well in advance before the container emptied to HSY’s customer service.
- Leave the sack next to the biowaste container.
- We will collect the garden waste in connection with the emptying of the biowaste container and deliver it to be composted.
We charge for garden waste in accordance with the current price list. If the garden waste is packed into plastic bags, it will be charged as extra mixed waste.
The burning of garden waste is prohibited in urbanised areas
The environmental protection regulations of municipalities prohibit the burning of brushwood and leaves outdoors in urbanised areas. Dry brushwood and branches can be burned in the fireplace belonging to the property. Transferring garden waste to forest areas or parks is also prohibited.
