Fire safety and permits
Storing firewood is associated with a risk of fire. It is advisable to familiarise yourself with the instructions of the rescue authorities so that there are no surprises regarding, for example, compensation for damages in the event of a fire.
What should be taken into account in the fire safety of a woodshed?
- Due to the risk of fire, the woodshed should be located sufficiently far away from residential buildings.
- The risk of vandalism is reduced if the woodshed can be locked.
- Highly flammable material or other goods may not be stored in attics, basements, under buildings or in the immediate vicinity of buildings so that they pose a risk of a fire or fire spreading or obstruct the extinguishing of a fire. (Rescue Act 9§)
