Dust from construction sites

In 2024 we monitor dust concentrations on a construction site in Kilo, Espoo. Construction sites often cause dust nuisance in the surrounding area. We monitor the concentrations of thoracic particles in the vicinity of construction sites at different locations in Espoo, Helsinki and Vantaa. The monitoring is carried out with an AQ Guard Smart measuring instrument from March to October. You can examine the dust concentrations on construction sites from different monitoring locations. The results are available as a graph or table. In the graphs, you can select one or more monitoring items that you want to view. The monitoring results are displayed hourly. You can select a day, week, or month as the reference period. The monitoring results are unverified hourly averages.

More information

We monitor the concentrations of thoracic particles in the vicinity of construction sites during March-October. Large, visible particles of dust from construction sites principally cause the environment to become dirty and reduce the level of comfort. Smaller, thoracic particles (PM10) are not visible to the naked eye. They find their way into the trachea and bronchi and can cause health effects. The concentrations of thoracic particles are high when the daily average exceeds the limit value level of 50 μg/m3. The air quality is poor when the hourly concentration exceeds 100 μg/m3.
