What kind of air are you breathing?
We at the Air Quality Unit are responsible for monitoring air quality in the Helsinki metropolitan area and elsewhere in Uusimaa. We produce reliable and up-to-date information on air quality. Our tasks include communicating about air quality as well as air protection research, planning, training and awareness-raising. We carry out air protection work in extensive cooperation with various stakeholders.
Climate change
Up-to-date and comprehensive information on climate change is needed to enable sustainable urban life. We provide information on how residents can make a difference with their choices, as well as on how the region has succeeded in mitigating climate change and adapted to the changes it causes.

Regional geographic information
Do you conduct planning or research work in which geographic information matters? Geographic information is being used more and more today, both at work and in leisure time. That is why we at HSY want to provide geographic information covering the Helsinki metropolitan area to both city authorities and ordinary citizens as open data. For those doing expert and planning work, we also offer customised register and map materials subject to licence, as well as information services.
In addition, we produce various information products about jobs, commuting, housing, lot reserves and monitoring. On our website, you can explore interactive graphs as well as more traditional reports on the above-mentioned themes.
Information for urban planning
Urban planning creates the conditions for a good and healthy urban environment. We provide urban planners with versatile information on the region’s development and the consideration of climate goals and air quality in planning.
